Walk the Talk for Mental Health Care and Substance Abuse Treatment -- Updated June 1, 2004 --
Immediately below, you will find news and photos about the Mental Health Matters! Team, a team of psychiatrists and friends who ran and walked in the 2003 Bay to Breakers Run.
Further down the page are links to several recent mental health related runs. Please keep in mind that some newspaper links become outdated within two to four weeks and no longer work. We apologize for any non-working links. One way to keep up on mental health runs in the United States is to go to the Google News Search Engine page and type into the search box the words "mental health run" or a similar search phrase. You will get a comprehensive list of the most current articles from a large number of publications.
Thank you for your interest in mental health and substance abuse treatment advocacy!
Before the race, from Left to Right: Nikki Campbell, Jana Carroll, Sarah Fetzer (red mask), Ron Sterling (Team Captain, blue mask), David Benedek, Alex Marie, Kristin Dean, and MB Lardizabal. There were 29 Team Members and all had fun! (No injuries!)
Above is a photo of Fred Martin, Jr., on his way to finishing among the first 10,000 runners with a time of 1:30:53. You needed a finishing time of 1:36:48:1 or less to make it into the top 10,000. (Nice picture, Fred!)
